Voter turnout low during early voting period for constitutional amendment election

Half a million Texans had cast ballots in the Nov. 4 Constitutional Amendment election during the first week of early voting, according to Texas Secretary of State. Of the 18,488,166 registered voters, only 573,357 Texans (3.1%) had cast ballots early ballots either in person or by mail as of Oct. 26.
