Vonn crashes in Crans-Montana downhill

On Jan. 30, 2026, United States' Lindsey Vonn crashed in her final downhill before the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
Landing a jump, Vonn lost control and tangled in safety nets on the upper portion of the Crans-Montana course, while French racer Romane Miradoli said visibility was an issue and the snow made it bumpy.
After receiving medical attention, Vonn got up and walked gingerly, taking weight off her left knee and using poles to steady herself.
Race officials later canceled the event after three of the first six racers crashed, including Vonn, the sixth starter, and earlier crashes by Nina Ortlieb of Austria and Marte Monsen of Norway.
Vonn, 41, has led the downhill circuit this season after returning from a partial right-knee titanium replacement and won at St. Moritz last month; her first Olympic race is Feb. 8.
