Vols and Crimson Tide to clash in home colors for first time since 1970
On Wednesday, August 19, Alabama and Tennessee announced both teams will wear home jerseys for their 'Third Saturday in October' rivalry games in 2026 and 2027, marking the first time since 1970.
The Volunteers and Crimson Tide last wore home jerseys together in 1970, when Tennessee prevailed 24-0 in Bill Battle's first season as Vols coach.
Tennessee athletic director Danny White said, "I'm grateful to Alabama AD Greg Byrne and his staff for their shared commitment to bringing this experience back to the fans of one of the sport's greatest rivalries."
This year's meeting occurs at Knoxville's Neyland Stadium, while next season's game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa will be the first time Tennessee has worn orange there.
The 109th all-time meeting between these programs adds another chapter to a rivalry dating over a century, where the Crimson Tide currently holds a 60-40-7 edge.
