Volkswagen to list new ‘added import fee’ on vehicle price tags

Volkswagen will break out the cost of a new import tariff on vehicle price stickers.

The German automaker said in a note to its dealers on April 1 that it would impose an import tax on models sold in the U.S. It will specify the exact amounts by mid-April. The automaker also told dealers it plans to reduce sales incentives and has stopped rail shipments of cars to the U.S. from its plants in Mexico. Japanese automaker Nissan also announced its plans.

The company has temporarily stopped deliveries of vehicles from its Mexican plant in Puebla.
