Newer Volkswagen ID.4 EVs recalled for battery-fire risk

Safety wonks at Transport Canada have issued a pair of recalls for the all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 crossover; specifically, the agency says that, on certain vehicles, cells inside the high-voltage battery module(s) may not have been manufactured properly. That could lead to overheating, which in turn could lead to a fire, a possible series of events that has VW asking owners to park the EV outside and away from structures as a precaution.
