Volkswagen has announced plans to move most of its car production from Europe to China. The German automaker says cars are assembled in the country 30 percent faster than in bureaucratically-slowed Europe, cutting production costs by almost half. The European Union imposed additional tariffs on Chinese-made electric cars several years ago over unfair trade, but the tariffs on recent Volkswagen models have been exempted.
