Volkswagen Announces Mission Efficiency. It's Not a Strategy But a New Record-Breaking Prototype

  • Volkswagen introduced the Mission Efficiency, a near-production electric car that set three world records for aerodynamics and energy consumption using production-ready technology from the ID. Cross on the MEB+ platform.
  • The vehicle achieved a drag coefficient of 0.158, the lowest for any road-approved car, and recorded energy consumption as low as 6.48 kWh/100 km during ideal constant-speed tests at 68 km/h.
  • During a real-world 1,278 km trip from Wolfsburg to Vienna, the Mission Efficiency used between 6.89 kWh/100 km and 7.51 kWh/100 km including charging losses, maintained an average speed close to 68 km/h, and stopped only once to charge.
