UK’s VodafoneThree Launches TV and Guaranteed-Speed Mobile Offer
VodafoneThree says the bundle will add Netflix, HBO Max and other streaming options as it challenges Sky and Virgin with a dedicated set-top box.
- VodafoneThree launched Vodafone TV on Thursday, a bundled service featuring Netflix, HBO Max, and linear channels from broadcasters like BBC and ITV, positioning the telco as a direct competitor to Sky and Virgin Media.
- Formed just over a year ago via the merger of Vodafone and Three, the new entity aims to simplify entertainment offerings into one package; Celebrity Roman Kemp promotes the consolidated service to customers.
- Subscribers require a dedicated set-top box, while the Freely platform provides legacy terrestrial channels and on-demand content. Vodafone simultaneously rolls out 5G service to enable mobile viewing via a companion app and offers movies through Vodafone Box Office.
- Will Morse, Vice President, Commercial Distribution & Operations at WBD, said partnering with Vodafone will bring HBO Max to more customers, giving mobile and broadband users access to award-winning content. Additional streaming partners include Disney+ and DAZN on rolling 30-day basis.
- Pricing remains critical as Consumer Director Rob Winterschladen positions Vodafone TV as a "family entertainment platform" with Google Play Store access, yet customers must weigh bundle value against paying for individual streaming subscriptions amid the "cost of living crisis.
