Virginia football enters AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll
The Cavaliers’ 26-point victory moved Virginia back into both national polls after opening the season with a dominant defensive performance.
The University of Virginia football program cracked the AP Top 25 poll and AFCA Coaches Poll at No. 25 on Tuesday, marking the Cavaliers' first regular-season ranking since 2005.
Head coach Tony Elliott's team earned the national recognition following a 34-8 victory over NC State in Week 0, catapulting the squad back into the national rankings.
Star linebacker Kam Robinson, who missed the final five games of last season with a torn ACL, will make his season debut on Friday against Norfolk State in Charlottesville.
Alongside Robinson, offensive lineman Alex Payne and defensive back Corey Costner are also expected to rejoin the lineup after missing the NC State season opener.
Friday's game kicks off at 7 p.m. in Charlottesville, offering the newly ranked Cavaliers an opportunity to build momentum in front of a home crowd.
