- Paramount+ has greenlit 'Ascent', a thriller series starring Oscar and Emmy winner Viola Davis. Created by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan, the show centers on elite corporate fixer Catriona Vail, who must weaponize her crisis management skills when her estranged daughter faces danger.
- Paramount Television Studios president Matt Thunell expressed the network's commitment to the project, stating the company is 'honored to support the vision' of the creative team. The series will film on the Paramount Lot in Los Angeles.
- Logan, known for screenplays 'Skyfall' and 'Gladiator', serves as showrunner, marking his second TV series after 'Penny Dreadful'. Davis returns to television following her Emmy-winning turn on 'How To Get Away With Murder' and her 2022 performance as Michelle Obama in 'The First Lady'.
- This order joins a growing slate under Paramount+ head of originals Jane Wiseman, including projects starring Kenneth Branagh, Jeremy Strong, and Nicole Kidman. Recently, the streamer ordered a 'Clueless' sequel and the true crime drama 'Fear Not'.
- Production is slated to begin in Los Angeles in 2027. Davis and Julius Tennon will executive produce the thriller through their banner, JuVee Productions, alongside Logan and Michael Aguilar.
