Vinícius Júnior scores 2 goals as Brazil beats Scotland 3-0 to reach World Cup knockout stage
Brazil beat Scotland 3-0 at Hard Rock Stadium in MIAMI GARDENS, Fla., clinching a spot in the World Cup knockout stage. Neymar made his tournament debut as a 76th-minute substitute after recovering from a right calf injury.
The 34-year forward had been sidelined for over a month with a right calf injury, missing Brazil's first two matches. Coach Carlo Ancelotti cleared him to play after he trained well earlier this week.
Vin scored twice and Matheus Cunha added a goal to secure the victory. The majority-Brazilian crowd at Hard Rock Stadium cheered loudly as Neymar warmed up on the sideline and checked into the match.
The victory advances Brazil to the knockout stage beginning next week. Fans, including Scotland's Tartan Army, had gathered in Miami and Boston to support their respective teams throughout the group phase.
Neymar, Brazil's career scoring leader with 79 goals in 130 international appearances, now returns to action for the tournament. He previously appeared in three World Cups, scoring eight goals across those competitions.
