Vince Dunn Has a Three-Point Night to Lift Kraken over Flames, 6-1
Vince Dunn had a goal and two assists as Seattle scored six times and blocked 20 shots in its road opener.
On Thursday, the visiting Seattle Kraken defeated the Calgary Flames 6-1 in the season opener at the Scotiabank Saddledome, with Vince Dunn recording three points and Jared McCann adding three assists.
This game marked the final season opener at the Saddledome after 44 years as the Flames' home. The team will relocate to Scotia Place next year, ending a historic chapter for the franchise.
Jordan Eberle opened the scoring on a power play, and Dunn added another goal 32 seconds later. Goaltender Joey Daccord made 24 saves and earned an assist; Seattle blocked 20 shots to Calgary's eight.
Matty Beniers, Freddy Gaudreau, Chandler Stephenson, and Kaapo Kakko also scored for the Kraken, showcasing depth scoring. Ryan Strome scored the Flames' only goal late in the third period, ending Daccord's shutout bid.
The Kraken visit the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, while the Flames travel to the Vancouver Canucks. Both teams reconvene on Sunday in Seattle, continuing their season after this decisive opening matchup.
