New library to honour Caroline Dawson
A new library to be built in Villeray will honour author Caroline Dawson, dead before her time in 2024 at the age of 44. Dawson, who wrote in French, was originally from Chile and came here as a child with her family as a refugee. The library’s architect hasn’t been chosen yet, and the building won’t open before 2030. It’s planned to rise beside the Patro Le Prévost building on Christophe‑Colomb, which we can hope will be renamed by then.
