Puja, aarti at Taj Mahal premises, case registered after viral videos
A viral video allegedly showing puja and aarti facing the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh has led to an FIR in Agra. The case now centres on whether the activity breached monument rules and who was involved.
In Agra, an FIR has been registered at the Etmad-ud-Daula police station based on a complaint from the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) after two videos went viral purportedly showing worship and aarti being performed towards the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh. Meanwhile, the Hindu Mahasabha claims to have performed aarti at Tejo Mahalaya on the Monday of Sawan.
Activists of the All India Hindu Mahasabha demonstrated at the ASI office in protest of the lawsuit filed against the Taj Mahal for performing aarti and offering water to the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh. The activists first raised slogans of "Down with ASI" and then chanted slogans regarding the Taj Mahal, such as "This is not a Taj, it is a temple, there is a Shivalinga inside it."
