Former Croatian Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Gabriela Žalac has been sentenced to two years in prison for abuse of office and power, as well as trading in influence. The conviction follows an indictment filed by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Zagreb. The defendants in the case were the former minister, the former director of the Croatian Central Agency for Financing and Contracting, and two businessmen.
