- NBA 2K gameplay director Mike Wang explained that developers at Visual Concepts reworked the engine because Wembanyama's 8-foot wingspan and guard skills caused player models to clip through floors and layup animations to travel above the backboard.
- Before Wembanyama's arrival, built-in limiters capped the ability to use players with such extreme dimensions in competitive online play; replicating his real-life defensive impact is now a franchise-defining undertaking, Wang noted.
