Vets and volunteers raise 100 flags at the Flags of Honor Memorial in Willmar, Minnesota

WILLMAR — The sun was shining early at 7 a.m. Friday to begin Memorial Day Weekend. About 30 volunteers and veterans helped raise 100 American flags at the Flags of Honor Memorial site on the shore of Willmar Lake. After the flag raising, members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and others planned to place about 2,000 flags on the graves of deceased veterans in area cemeteries.
