THE GOVERNMENT today approved amendments to two laws that increase the pension rights of veterans and their family members, increase benefits for caregivers, introduce a voluntary benefit, and abolish pension reductions for active military personnel, police officers, and authorized officials.
The amendments to the Act, which come into force on January 1, 2027, cover 201,304 people, or more than 70 percent of veterans.

According to Minister Medved, the fiscal impact of the amendments to the Croatian Veterans Act amounts to 72.8 million euros, and 99.8 million euros for the implementation of both laws.
The government proposes an increase in pensions for 174,000 veterans, an annual allowance for volunteers, and an increase in benefits for caregivers of veterans.
