'Very, very scary': Woman struck by stray bullet at fireworks show, police say
Police say the woman has been released from the hospital as investigators trace the gunfire to a location nearly 2 miles away.
On July 5, a woman was struck in the arm by a stray bullet while attending Yukon's Freedom Fest in Oklahoma during the fireworks display at Chisholm Trail Park.
Police believe the bullet originated from nearly 2 miles away, tracing a connection to a shots-fired call 1.6 miles away near Czech Hall Road and Reno Avenue in Oklahoma City's jurisdiction.
Regular attendee Tarrah Meade described the scene as "very, very scary" when armed officers rushed the area with guns drawn; the victim was released from the hospital and is doing OK.
Yukon Police Department officers continue investigating and are actively seeking tips from the public; anyone with information about Sunday night's incident is asked to call the department.
Despite the incident, attendees Meade and Woods plan to return to Freedom Fest next year, with Meade stating "one little incident is not going to stop us from returning, but we just want everyone to be safe.
