General NS Raja Subramani Takes Charge as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Succeeds General Anil Chauhan
Lt Gen N.S. Raja Subramani will succeed him as India’s next CDS after Chauhan’s three-year-and-eight-month tenure focused on tri-service integration.
Lieutenant General N.S. Raja Subramani takes charge tomorrow as India's next Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding Gen Anil Chauhan as the country's senior-most military commander.
Outgoing Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan retired on Saturday after a three-year-and-eight-month tenure, describing his time as "very satisfying" while prioritizing synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
During his term, Gen Chauhan focused on tri-services synergy and played a key role in planning Operation Sindoor; last month, he submitted formal proposals for India's integrated theatre commands.
Gen Chauhan bid farewell to colleagues after receiving a tri-services guard of honour and laid a wreath at the War Memorial in New Delhi, marking his symbolic transition to civilian life.
Tasked with maintaining military synergy, Raja Subramani assumes the post as India's second Chief of Defence Staff while the nation continues evolving its regional security structure through integrated commands.
