Veltkamp, Ervin Lead Florida Atlantic’s Rout of Louisiana-Monroe 45-17
Veltkamp threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns as FAU piled up 577 total yards and scored 28 points in the second quarter.
On Saturday, Florida Atlantic defeated Louisiana-Monroe 45-17, led by quarterback Caden Veltkamp's 313 passing yards and two touchdowns and running back Ethan Ervin's 139 rushing yards and a score.
The Owls broke a 7-7 tie by scoring 28 points in the second quarter to build a 35-17 halftime lead. Dominique Henry caught a 26-yard touchdown pass, Easton Messer returned a punt 73 yards for a score, and Ethan Ervin added a 2-yard touchdown run.
FAU finished with 577 total yards, including 245 rushing, while receiver Dominique Henry recorded nine catches for 121 yards and two scores. Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Aidan Armenta threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
This victory completed a perfect 7-0 day for Florida's seven FBS programs, marking only the second time the state achieved this feat and the first since October 5, 2013. The Owls contributed to a historic weekend.
Next Saturday, The Owls host Texas Southern while Louisiana-Monroe travels to face South Alabama. Both teams prepare for their respective matchups following Saturday's decisive contest.
