Manuel Castro Almeida believes that the reduction of VAT carries the risk that the state will run out of financial mechanisms "to help those who really need it" and doubts that it will help to lower prices.
Having heard in Parliament, Manuel Castro Almeida stressed that "the reduction of VAT has an objective risk that it is to benefit those who consume the most and that it is the most favoured classes and not the least favoured classes that would be least favoured by this measure".

The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, today considered that the reduction of VAT is a controversial issue and there is a risk of increasing the revenue of the trade sector rather than the costs of families.
