Iran is not currently discussing details of possible transit fees with Oman as the two countries negotiate a new shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said. He said talks on the maritime mechanism remain ongoing, with the two sides discussing safe passage, environmental issues, maritime services and combating crime.

Addressing questions during a press briefing, Baghaei was asked whether the issue of transit fees had been raised in Iran's negotiations with Oman and, if so, whether such fees would be shared between the two countries or allocated solely to Iran.
