On Tuesday evening in Alpbach, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen called for Austria to be "a bit more like the Baltic states" with regard to its orientation within the EU, "because these countries are doing what's needed on important issues." The people of Latvia are "true EU fans," and their enthusiasm for Europe "would also do us good here in Austria," Van der Bellen said in the presence of his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkevics.
