Gujarat: Seven Killed, over 20 Injured as Bus Rams Parked Truck Near Vadodara
Around 30 passengers were injured and taken to SSG Hospital as rescue teams used cutting tools to free people trapped in the wreckage.
On Wednesday, a luxury bus travelling from Rajasthan to Surat crashed into a stationary truck near Kotambi International Cricket Stadium in Vadodara, killing six people and injuring around 30 others.
Vadodara District Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal said the truck driver had parked on the roadside to check tyre pressure when the speeding bus struck the stationary vehicle from behind.
Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force, used specialized equipment to free trapped passengers from the mangled bus, pulling 24 people to safety and transporting them to SSG Hospital.
Police identified four victims as Vinod Damor, 30, Mukesh Dindor, 34, Preet Bhatia, nine, and Mahendra Pandya, 68, while authorities registered a case at Waghodia police station.
This incident follows a similar collision on January 31 near Bamanagam Patia when a private luxury bus collided with a truck, highlighting ongoing highway safety concerns in Vadodara.
Six people were killed and 26 injured when a luxury bus collided with a truck on the Vadodara-Jarod Road in Gujarat. A rescue and relief operation was launched following the accident. Police are investigating the cause of the accident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
