Utah joins multistate settlement over 23andMe genetic data breach

The deal follows a 2023 breach that exposed data from about 6.9 million users and led to additional limits on future data use.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah will receive $461,688 as part of an $18 million multistate settlement with genetic testing company 23andMe following the company's bankruptcy and a massive 2023 data breach that exposed the personal information of millions of customers.
