Rodman, Wilson and Swanson Are Together Again for USWNT Matches Against Brazil
Mallory Swanson returned from maternity leave, reuniting with Trinity Rodman and Sophia Wilson as the U.S. team prepares for two Brazil matches.
The "Triple Espresso" forward line of Trinity Rodman, Sophia Wilson, and Mallory Swanson reunited this week in Brazil, joining the USWNT roster for two friendly matches against the 2027 World Cup hosts.
Since winning gold at the 2024 Olympics, the trio last played together on Aug. 10, 2024, when they defeated Brazil 1-0; Swanson returned this month after maternity leave, while Wilson rejoined in April.
Known as "Triple Espresso"—a nickname coined in France—the trio accounted for 10 of the team's 12 goals during the 2024 Olympics, demonstrating their established chemistry.
The matches in Sao Paulo and Fortaleza give players experience at World Cup venues; Hayes emphasized last week the importance of re-creating the forwards' connections ahead of next summer's tournament.
Beyond these friendlies, the USWNT must qualify for the 2027 World Cup at the CONCACAF Championship in November; Hayes is testing young prospects like 20-year-old Riley Jackson to build squad depth.
