US insists Maduro heads the Cartel de los Soles terrorist organization
The United States Government of President Donald Trump insisted Friday that Venezuela's leader Nicolás Maduro was the head of the 'Cartel de los Soles,' which was designated a terrorist organization. In Washington's view, Maduro uses drug trafficking to 'destabilize' the region.

The US Treasury Department announced on Friday sanctions against the "Cartel de los Soles", which it described as a Venezuelan gang led by President Nicolas Maduro to support drug trafficking to the United States.
The U.S. pointed to the Cartel de los Soles, a group Washington says is linked to the Venezuelan government, as a terrorist organization.
The U.S. Treasury Department, through its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), included the Los Soles Poster on the list of Specially Designated Nationals (SDN), classifying it as an international and transnational terrorist organization. The decision implies that those who have relations with the group may be exposed to secondary sanctions.
