Bailey, whom Trump endorsed for governor in 2022, called on the president to “back up, admit the mistake … and apologize to the people, apologize to the Church and honestly, honestly, apologize to the pope.”
US President Trump said he would not apologize for his controversial remarks targeting the Pope, who has consistently spoken out against war. Trump stated, "I think he's very weak on crime and other issues, so I'm not going to apologize." He also deleted an image depicting himself as Jesus Christ.
