The United States intercepted a new oil tanker in the Indian Ocean that had fled the blockade ordered by US President Donald Trump against sanctioned ships leaving or heading to Venezuela, the Pentagon announced on Sunday.
The United States has seized another oil tanker. According to Fox News, the vessel is the Veronica III, which is among the tankers that the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on in December 2024 for involvement in the illegal transportation of oil. The US Navy tracked the tanker from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean.
According to the specialized site TankerTrackers, the "Veronica III" had left Venezuela on January 3, the same day that American special forces captured Nicolas Maduro. The tanker was loaded with about 1.9 million barrels of oil.
