- On Tuesday U.S. District Court Judge Fred Biery issued an order blocking deportation of Liam Conejo Ramos, 5-year-old child, and Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias, father, staying removal and transfer.
- Taken from their Minneapolis home on Jan. 20, Liam Conejo Ramos and his father were taken into custody and transported to the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas.
- At the Dilley facility detainees staged a strike involving an estimated 1,000 detainees, or 80% participation, while attorney Eric Lee described putrid water, contaminated food and verbally abusive guards.
- On Jan. 30, students plan a walkout amid declining attendance, with Rochester reporting 530 more absences from Jan. 9-27 and 186 students enrolling in online school since Jan. 7.
- A CBS News/YouGov poll earlier this month found 61 percent say ICE is being `too tough`, while federal agency data show more than 73 percent of detainees lack criminal convictions.
