- Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment in Ansbach, Germany, Gonzales was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve at the time of her death.
- Friends from Hebron High School remembered Gonzales as outgoing and brave, noting she left for boot camp one year ago to prove her discipline. "It's pretty devastating, and it's still pretty hard to believe, seeing her face everywhere," said Zuleyka Acosta.
- Mourning the loss of a planned September reunion, Misael Galdamez and other friends in North Texas remembered Gonzales. "She wants us to be happy and keep moving on, but still remember her," Galdamez said.
- Recalling their time together, Galdamez shared a final memory of the group's bond. "We were just in a room over there, laughing and having the time of our lives," Galdamez said.
