The United States Could Lose the Gulf
U.S. Central Command reports sinking 17 Iranian vessels including a key submarine amid Iran launching over 500 missiles and 2,000 drones in retaliation.
- Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, announced Tuesday that U.S. forces destroyed 17 Iranian ships and damaged the submarine with a hole in its side during Operation Epic Fury.
- Defense officials say the campaign aims to destroy Iranian missile launchers, drones and air defenses; Admiral Brad Cooper said, 'In simple terms, we're focused on shooting all the things that can shoot at us.'
- U.S. forces deployed tens of thousands of personnel and more than 50,000 troops used B-2 and B-1 bombers with Tomahawk missiles plus a U.S. submarine that sank IRIS Dana with a Mark 48 torpedo, CENTCOM reported.
- The Pentagon reported six U.S. service members killed as CENTCOM said no Iranian ships are underway, while Iran retaliated by launching more than 500 ballistic missiles and over 2,000 drones.
- The scale of the buildup has prompted evacuations with the State Department contacting almost 3,000 Americans and more than 9,000 leaving, while strikes hit commercial targets and Lebanon.
