U.S. Forest Service expands closures for Backbone Fire in East Lewis County; international personnel to help fight High Lava Fire - The Daily Chronicle

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest expanded its road closure order for the Backbone Fire in East Lewis County on Saturday, according to the U.S. Forest Service (USFS). The fire, located north of Packwood and south of Mt. Rainier National Park, remained at 15 acres and 0% containment as of Monday. It was first reported on Aug. 5.
