CENTCOM Launches Multinational Attack Drone Task Force ‘Falcon Strike’
The unit will expand CENTCOM’s drone efforts as regional partners are invited and the Pentagon pushes low-cost attack systems.
- On Thursday, Central Command announced the creation of Task Force Falcon Strike, the first multidomain, multinational unit dedicated to one-way attack drones operating in the air, on the sea surface, and underwater.
- For the past year, CENTCOM has worked to accelerate technology delivery to troops, following a Pentagon-led $1 billion initiative to acquire hundreds of thousands of low-cost, one-way attack drones for use in the Middle East.
- Following Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's call for rapid acquisition, Task Force Scorpion Strike deployed LUCAS offensive drones reverse-engineered from the Iranian Shahed-136 to combat in Operation Epic Fury.
- Adm. Brad Cooper stated that Task Force Falcon Strike will expand on previous successes by leveraging regional innovation, as CENTCOM initiates the process of inviting regional partners to join.
