But for some producers of diesel made from soybeans, the move won’t be enough to rescue them from a months-long downturn that’s led to plant closings and layoffs.

Soya oil prices in the U.S. continue to weaken in the face of uncertainty about the biofuel promotion policy to be implemented by the Donald Trump government. On Thursday Reuters indicated that in the next few hours the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will propose a mandatory mandate for the internal use of biodiesel lower than that required by the U.S. agro-industrial sector.
