US officials have proposed that Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine lift sanctions on Belarusian potash to allow the transit of the agricultural product – a major source of hard currency revenue for Minsk – through their territories.
After announcing that United States (US) officials had proposed to Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine to lift sanctions on Belarusian potash fertilizers, Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys confirmed that discussions are underway with Washington on the subject. However, the Lithuanian foreign minister stressed that there are currently no reasons to review the sanctions on Belarusian fertilizers adopted at the European level and in force.
