- The United States and China agreed to establish a "bilateral communication channel" for artificial intelligence incidents, the White House said Friday following a Washington summit with President Donald Trump and Chinese President Jinping.
- While the state visit in Washington was marked by ceremony and pomp, Jazeera's Alan Fisher noted the event was short on major breakthroughs as Trump and Jinping discussed trade and the stalled war in Iran.
- Negotiators extended a trade truce "to give both sides the chance to talk," while China agreed to import at least 10 million metric tonnes of coal from the United States in 2027 and 2028.
- Chinese President Jinping called for "a healthy competition," stating that as "leading nations in artificial intelligence," the two powers share the capability and responsibility to develop and manage the technology for good.
- The leaders confirmed they will meet again at the APEC summit in Shenzhen in November and the G20 in Miami in December, with Trump noting the United States "goes 250 years; theirs goes 6,000 years.
