- On Monday, United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor led a 28-member delegation to Amritsar's Golden Temple, reflecting Washington's interest in strengthening diplomatic ties with Punjab.
- Ambassador Gor, who visited the "special place" around 15 years ago, toured historic Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum during the day-long outreach program in Amritsar.
- Welcomed by SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami and Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, Gor was briefed on "Gurbani Kirtan" and "Sewa" traditions of the "Guru Ghar" and presented religious gifts.
- Dhami discussed a controversial US poster asking "Mr Singh" to self-deport with the delegation, urging steps to ensure Sikh safety in America after the Department of Homeland Security removed the ad.
- Amid the engagement, Acting President of Shiromani Akali Dal Emaan Singh Mann and supporters gathered outside raising slogans of "Khalistan Zindabad" and "God Bless America," while security personnel managed the crowd.
