US Strike on Iranian Railway Bridge Hits China-Russia Trade Corridor Near Turkmenistan
CENTCOM said it hit about 90 Iranian military targets, including air defenses, missile storage and logistics sites, in a second night of strikes.
The United States targeted a strategic railway bridge in northern Iran near the Turkmenistan border, disrupting a major overland trade corridor connecting Iran, Russia, and China.
U.S. Central Command announced strikes against approximately 90 Iranian military targets along the coastline, including air defense systems and missile storage sites, as Defense Secretary Hegseth said the United States will continue hitting Iran hard.
The operation followed previous strikes on roughly 80 Iranian military targets, including more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats, with additional hits on Bushehr and an observation tower at the Port of Chabahar on the Gulf of Oman.
These operations aim to secure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz while degrading Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping, without triggering a broader regional war.
The targeted rail route has become increasingly important as the United States tightened pressure on Iran's maritime trade, serving as a critical alternative for Iran to maintain economic connectivity with Russia and China.
