INDIA, JUL 23 – India denies U.S. claims of mediating the May ceasefire with Pakistan, emphasizing the bilateral nature of the resolution following Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
- On Tuesday , Washington's top diplomat at the UN said the Trump administration delivered de-escalations between India and Pakistan, emphasising its commitment to mediating disputes worldwide.
- According to the External Affairs Ministry, Modi informed President Trump last month there was no mediation or quid pro quo for a trade deal, adding that no proposal for US mediation was ever raised.
- On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor, decimating nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK with pre-dawn precision strikes, and the four-day conflict ended with an understanding on May 10 evening.
- India reaffirmed its commitment to multilateralism and peaceful settlement of disputes, strongly condemned cross-border terrorism, while Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish said `cessation of military activities was directly concluded at the request of Pakistan`.
