The nodular dermatosis vaccine, a disease that currently affects cattle, arrived in Savoie this Friday. The farms near the outbreaks of contamination will receive it as soon as possible in the next few days.
The contagious nodular dermatosis (CND), a disease affecting cattle, first appeared in France at the end of June. This new scourge, which threatens an already tried French herd, has led to radical measures: the total slaughter of infected households, compensation for herders and compulsory vaccination. A solution that has provoked anger among some herders.
The Ministry of Agriculture published on Wednesday 16 July its strategy to combat the disease that affects French cows for the first time. Scientific director of animal health at l'Anses, Eric Cardinale stresses that the total slaughter of infected herds is "the only solution".
While 24 outbreaks have been detected in the two Savoys, the state is deploying an unprecedented health response against contagious nodular dermatosis (CND). The first doses of vaccine are arriving in the Ain, border department of infected territories. The vaccination is expected to start early next week.
