The EU confirmed it will suspend Brazilian beef, offal, fish and honey imports from 3 September 2026 over antimicrobial growth-promoter rules. Uruguay, whose beef exports to the EU hit a 10-year high of 52,000 tonnes in 2025, could gain ground. The European Union (EU) is conducting an audit in Brazil following the suspension from September of Brazilian exports of several products of animal origin, a process that could allow the recovery of some authorisations.
Brazil has not yet been able to prove that export cattle have not been treated with antibiotics.
