DEP issues air quality warning for central, eastern PA
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality alert for Tuesday for most of the central and eastern part of the state. The department has declared a code orange — meaning pollution levels could reach an unhealthy level for sensitive groups of people — for particulate matter from Canadian wildfire smoke. Update: Air quality alert in place for part of Pennsylvania until early Wednesday
On Monday at 4:48 p.m. the National Weather Service reported an updated air quality alert in effect until Wednesday at midnight for Carbon, Monroe, Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties."The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Fine Particulates, from midnight tonight to midnight Tuesday night," according to the weather service.
