Taiwan lifts Fukushima-area food import restrictions
Taipei, Nov. 21 (CNA) Taiwan has lifted special import requirements for foods from Japan's five Fukushima-area prefectures, ending the need for dual certification and 100 percent batch-by-batch testing, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced Friday.
Taiwan lifted all restrictions on food imports from Japan on Friday, a further show of support for Tokyo after reports that China would halt purchases over disagreements with its new prime minister.

A day earlier, Taiwan President Lai Ching-te posted pictures on social media of himself eating Japanese-sourced sushi to show his support for Japan in a worsening diplomatic dispute with China. Beijing has indicated it will ban imports of Japanese seafood, two government officials in Tokyo said on Wednesday.
NHK reported on November 21 that Taiwan has lifted all remaining import restrictions on Japanese food products imposed after the 2011 disaster at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
