United Way report: 29% of workers in Pa.'s most common jobs struggle to get by

Williamsport, Pa. — In 2023, 29% of workers in Pennsylvania’s 20 most common jobs lived in households that couldn’t afford basics, according to new data from United Way of Pennsylvania and its research partner United For ALICE.

United Way report looks at most common jobs and income

Of the 20 most common occupations in Michigan in 2023, 14 paid less than $20 per hour. According to the United Way, of all the workers in the top 20 occupations in the state, 30% lived in households below the ALICE threshold, meaning they faced financial instability.
