United States strikes Iran for 10th night in a row

CENTCOM said the strikes target command centers, missile sites and air defenses as nearly 100 U.S. troops have been injured since July 7.

  • On Monday, U.S. Central Command launched its 10th consecutive night of strikes against Iran, targeting command centers, missile sites, and maritime capabilities to degrade Tehran's ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
  • The conflict began on February 28 with U.S.-Israeli strikes, escalating to 17 U.S. service member deaths and Iranian drone attacks on Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.
  • Pentagon data showed nearly 100 U.S. service members injured since July 7, with 96% returning to duty, while Brent crude traded above $88 a barrel and U.S. gasoline averaged $4 a gallon.
  • Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz stalled after crews abandoned a tanker following attacks, while Iran-aligned Houthi rebels announced a maritime embargo against Saudi Arabia, threatening Red Sea export routes.
  • Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni traveled to Islamabad on Monday for talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, seeking to resuscitate a collapsed interim ceasefire as diplomatic channels remain active despite ongoing strikes.
