On Monday, United Airlines flight UA 946 from Washington Dulles International to Amsterdam diverted to the International Airport in Newfoundland after engine trouble over the Atlantic.
The Regional Fire Department responded to the Boeing 767 at 2:28 a.m. after the crew declared an "in-flight emergency" before landing.
Aboard the aircraft were 122 passengers and nine crew members, all of whom landed safely at YYT early Monday.
United Airlines arranged overnight hotel accommodations for passengers and is sending a second aircraft from New York to complete the journey to the Netherlands.
The flight to Amsterdam Schiphol is cancelled, and the aircraft remains at the International Airport pending further details.
