INDIA Bloc to Write to Chief Justice of India on SIR, Demands Education Minister's Resignation over NEET-UG Paper Leak: Kharge
The opposition wants a judicial probe, NTA overhaul and nationwide protests after alleging repeated leaks and irregularities affected more than 22 lakh NEET candidates.
- On Monday, leaders of the INDIA bloc unanimously demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing repeated paper leaks and irregularities in national-level examinations including NEET-UG and CBSE.
- The alliance accused Pradhan of presiding over the "betrayal of lakhs of youth," describing recurring exam scams as a "national shame" and alleging the Centre shielded those responsible.
- More than 1.6 lakh candidates submitted re-evaluation requests for over 3.8 lakh answer books through June 7, while the Indian Air Force will transport NEET-UG question papers to 18 locations for the June 21 retest.
- Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced the bloc will write to the Chief Justice of India alleging "vote loot" and electoral malpractice during the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls.
- Alliance partners agreed to meet every two months and coordinate daily during the monsoon Parliament session, though BJP leader Brajesh Pathak claimed the bloc "has no public support.
