Iran has begun military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping route, amid heightened tensions with the United States, which has deployed an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf to pressure Iran into a deal.
Just before the resumption of negotiations, Iran practiced closing the Strait of Hormuz and threatened that if attacked it would harm the global economy. At the same time, the US and Israel are increasing military preparedness and another aircraft carrier is on its way to the region.
